Bail Bond Responsibilities

FAQ: What are my responsibilities if I bail someone out?

When you sign the bail bond agreement, you become the “indemnitor.” First and foremost, that means you are taking responsibility for the defendant to go to court as required. Additionally, you agree to bail the bondsman the cost of the bond regardless of the outcome of the case. So, if the case is dropped or the defendant is found innocent, the bondsman has still earned the bail bond fee.

If the defendant fails to appear in court, you have additional responsibilities. For more information on the responsibilities of  San Mateo County bail bonds, call 1-650-227-3547.
