FAQ: Will I get my money back?
If you choose to pay the full bail amount to the jail or court and the defendant returns to court for all hearings, the bail money will be returned to you at the conclusion of the case, minus any fines or court fees.
If you use a bail bondsman, the money you pay is a fee collected by the bondsman in exchange for taking the risk of bailing out the defendant and is therefore not returned. Bail bond costs are fully earned by the bondsman when the defendant is release initially from jail. That means if the defendant is found innocent or the case is dropped, the bondman still is entitled to the full 10% fee.
