Members of the San Mateo Police Department have responded to a series of calls in the past few weeks. Most of those incidents involved some sort of theft.
On February 25, officers first answered a call from a local resident who indicated their car had been burglarized outside a on Concar Drive. An arrest has not yet been made. At the time the suspect is apprehended they will be booked into the Maguire Jail. Bail could be set as high as $20,000 for this charge, although that amount could raise significantly if the defendant is found to have an outstanding warrant out for their arrest.
Later that same day, SMPD officers received calls regarding two stolen vehicles. Both thefts took place just after 9 p.m. Additional information was not immediately available and the suspect or suspects continue to remain at large. Officers have not said whether they believe the incidents are related. Persons arrested for vehicle theft will be charged with grand theft auto. Bail amounts for this crime can range between $20,000 and $50,000.
Officers also said a bottle of alcohol and a cart of liquor were stolen from local retailers. A San Mateo Police Department spokesperson has not indicated if suspects have been identified.
