Police in San Mateo say they’ve arrested four people who they believe are connected to a robbery at a local lingerie store.
The incident happened in mid-September at the Victoria’s Secret at the Hillsdale Shopping center, according to police, and it began when one of the suspects walked into the store, pulled out a stun gun and pointed it at a clerk.
Police say the robbers made off with approximately $3,000 in merchandise, but the suspects didn’t make it far. Witnesses were able to provide a detailed description of the getaway vehicle; the robbers were apprehended quickly and the stolen items were recovered.
Three adults were arrested and booked into the Maguire Jail on multiple felony charges. A minor was detained and she was booked into juvenile hall.
San Mateo Police Department officials say they’ve seen an increase in smash-and-grab and grab-and-run thefts in recent months.
