Members of the San Mateo Sheriff’s Department have confirmed they have arrested and detained two men who are believed to have broken into a Menlo Park home last weekend.
Defendants Ruben Salas and Victor Osegurra-Rojas are believed to have burglarized a residential dwelling in an unincorporated area of the city. Deputies said they were alerted to the crime when a woman called 9-1-1 after returning home and found two men had unlawfully entered her Placitas Ave. home.
The woman said that each of the men was holding a laptop computer. They became startled upon seeing her, dropped the items and ran out a side door. They sped off in a blue pick-up truck. Witnesses to the crime noticed the number for a gardening service was painted on the truck’s doors. That number was passed off to investigators a short time later.
San Mateo Sheriff’s deputies were able to locate the vehicle a short time later. They have reportedly been booked into the Maguire Jail where they are waiting to be arraigned on charges of conspiracy and residential burglary. Bail information was not immediately available but that amount is believed to have been set in excess of $50,000 per defendant.
Anyone who has additional information about this crime is asked to contact the SMSD. Anyone who believes they may have been victimized by the men are also asked to come forward.
