A number of incident reports have been called into local law enforcement agencies in the past several weeks. Below are just a handful of incidents that police and sheriff’s deputies responded to.
A Ladera resident called the San Mateo Sheriff’s Department dispatch center to report he saw a strange person running away from a nearby home. The oddest thing about it, he said, was that the man was carrying a pillowcase. When deputies arrived on the scene they determined one of the windows on the home’s backdoor had been broken.
Several thefts were also reported, they said. In one instance, deputies received calls from three different people who live on Vine Street. All of them said their vehicles had been broken into. Deputies said that each of the break-ins were discovered in the morning and that all of the victims knew something was up when they walked outside and saw one of their car doors had been left open.
