Most people are surprised to learn the city of South San Francisco is actually located in San Mateo County. It sits just north of San Bruno, west of the San Francisco Bay and east of Pacifica. Current census data notes the area has a population of approximately 64,000. Residents say they enjoy the area’s dry, cool summers and notable mild winters.
The city today is not at all as it used to be. It was initially founded in the late 1800s as the city of Baden and most of the land was used agriculturally. Today it is home to well known companies such as See’s Candies, Exelixis and Genentech.
Visitors, residents and guests of South San Francisco are kept safe thanks to the diligent efforts of the South San Francisco Police Department.

Persons who are arrested within city limits will likely be transported to the Maguire Jail in order to be booked and processed. The South San Francisco PD does not have its own holding facility. Booking often takes between 4 and 6 hours and the jail will not allow any agent to post bail bonds until this step is complete.
If you need help getting someone out of the Maguire Jail, Adelante Bail Bonds can help. Call our office now at 650-227-3547 for a free, confidential consultation.
